Shenzhen Conference

Cross Talk meeting in Shenzhen

The conference on Human Metagenomics, coorganised by MetaHIT and Cross Talk, took place in Shenzhen, 1-3 March, 2010. On the 4th of March, the conference was followed by a special day dedicated to the Cross Talk program.

In this occasion were gathered the 18 Cross Talk fellows, their supervisors, researchers in the field of metagenomics  and eight young researchers who were awarded a fellowship to attend the meeting.

We had thus the great pleasure to welcome the successful applicants:

  • Daniel Aguirre de Carcer, CSIRO, Australia
  • Sahar El Aidy, Wageningen University, The Netherlands
  • Gwen Falony, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium
  • Vedrana Grcic, University of Oslo Rikshospitalet, Norway
  • Fredrik Karlsson, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden
  • Janne Nikkilä, University of Helsinki, Finland
  • Imke Mulder, University of Aberdeen, England
  • Iwona Pranke, CNRS, France

The meeting was the opportunity for the young researchers to meet other attendees of the conference, exchange with them about its content, get opinions about their poster presentations.

Program of the day

During the morning, the fellows were divided into small groups to exchange their impressions about the conference and the perspectives this event offered to their own career. A short report about the debate was then presented to the other groups.

The afternoon was the time for posters presentations. Each fellow presented his poster during five minutes and the best one was selected by a committee. Congrats to Ms Sahar El Aidy, whose poster was awarded a prize among 26 participants!
